did a lunch meeting at sakana. colleagues did the sakana lunch, the sashimi lunch and i went for the chicken cutlet. everything was good as usual. lots of respectable food for a good value. how can you not like that.
ello. as a matter of course, i think blogs are lame. they seem self important & who really cares what you think. so basically this is for me.
this is here mainly to keep track of restaurants we need to visit.
then i figured it's also a good place just to vomit down thoughts to clear out space in my head. also figure it enable recording all the crazy things marina does, milestones of lee on deck and let any remote family members check in on the az lees.
as far content, it'll probably be mostly food, bit of photograpy, bit of computing, some workout stuff, family stuff & observations of people/society - i like to rant.

tortas el güero - 2518 N. 16th Street - 8:30 - 9 daily - awesome torta de cochinita: with fresh-baked telera, soft, golden, lightly toasted bun, thick layer of moist pulled pork in light bbq sauce, typical torta toppings sliced pickled jalapeno, tomato, shredded lettuce, and mayonnaise. pastor: lean chunks of pork in peppery red chile sauce - spicy. hawaiiana: ham sandwich layered with mild queso fresco & sweet chunks pineapple. cubana: big torta stuffed with cheese, slices of ham, roasted pork, and the same kind of fried beef cutlets that came on the Milaneza. tangy desebrada (shredded beef) inside a lightly browned quesadilla; red chile beef burrito, nothing fancy — just the meat rolled up in a tortilla — but flavor was addicting. My mouth and lips felt warm for quite a while after I was finished.

z lv - lotus of siam http://www.chowhound.com/topics/367322 ocha prawns; barbecued beef; barbecued catfish; hoh mok plar (catfish with egg, cabbage & chili paste) - Dave Feldman reply to me: I tend to get obsessed with certain dishes, and not necessarily the ones LOS is most famous for. I eat at LOS three different ways: by myself; with small groups of friends, 2-6 folks; and with banquets, usually 10-16 people. I tend to be least adventurous with the banquets, and certain dishes tend to be faves, especially among the less adventurous eaters. When I'm with a small group of friends or family, I tend to eat specials more, and try new things. When I'm by myself, I often order humble dishes that I am obsessed with -- the khao soi and hoh mok plar are particular faves in this regard. Khao soi works with all these groups, because it can function as a semi-soup when a proper soup isn't ordered, it's great whether spicy or not, and it features the best noodles in the house.

phx ranch mkt - 3 tacos, rice & beans - carne asada, carnitas; fried chicken taco plated on lettuce smeared thin guacamole, thin sour cream topped with cotija cheese; gorditas huge stuffed full of meat, beans, crema, and cilantro; tamales - love them all except the baja variety - soggy; dairy counter bc of crema con sal in bulk - chorizo and other sausages right next door to the dairy counter are likewise delicious. NOTE: butcher told me this chorizo is better than his so buy there instead of meat dept; rarely find fresher tortillas; grab some of their flap steak for grilled tacos at home (if buying for grilling they will ask you, "quiere preparado?" means marinated. YES, you want this. double-bag it with their asada marinade); cubano torta (insanely good per wb); killer rice pudding at agua stand
