ello. as a matter of course, i think blogs are lame. they seem self important & who really cares what you think. so basically this is for me.
this is here mainly to keep track of restaurants we need to visit.
then i figured it's also a good place just to vomit down thoughts to clear out space in my head. also figure it enable recording all the crazy things marina does, milestones of lee on deck and let any remote family members check in on the az lees.

The more familiar items are also well-crafted, particularly the pork adobada and carnitas. The chorizo and egg torta is a sandwich gem, and the enchiladas with verde sauce will light your mouth on fire -- in a good way.

- tortas el güero - 2518 N. 16th Street - 8:30 - 9 daily - awesome torta de cochinita: with fresh-baked telera, soft, golden, lightly toasted bun, thick layer of moist pulled pork in light bbq sauce, typical torta toppings sliced pickled jalapeno, tomato, shredded lettuce, and mayonnaise. pastor: lean chunks of pork in peppery red chile sauce - spicy. hawaiiana: ham sandwich layered with mild queso fresco & sweet chunks pineapple. cubana: big torta stuffed with cheese, slices of ham, roasted pork, and the same kind of fried beef cutlets that came on the Milaneza. tangy desebrada (shredded beef) inside a lightly browned quesadilla; red chile beef burrito, nothing fancy — just the meat rolled up in a tortilla — but flavor was addicting. My mouth and lips felt warm for quite a while after I was finished.

When I'm by myself, I often order humble dishes that I am obsessed with -- the khao soi and hoh mok plar are particular faves in this regard. Khao soi works with all these groups, because it can function as a semi-soup when a proper soup isn't ordered, it's great whether spicy or not, and it features the best noodles in the house.
